Grandparent Classes
![]()
We recommend that all communities create a grandparenting class to teach, and apply "Grandparent Power."
If you want to start a grandparenting class in your area, you may use Dr. Kornhaber's book "The Grandparent Guide" (Contemporary 2002) as a text. The book may be ordered from Amazon.com or your local bookstore. The book is divided into over 50 chapters, each containing a specific topic of interest specially designed for the classroom.
We recommend that classes last one and one-half hours each. The "teacher" assigns a chapter for each session. At the beginning of the session, the teacher summarizes the chapter and leads an interactive, and personal discussion.
We also recommend, when appropriate, that the class has a social event: a "grandchild" day and a "parent-grandparent get -together."
We further recommend that grandparents get involved to improve life in their local community using the Grandparent Class for support and learning.
