New Grandchild. Controlling Other Grandmother

Q: Help!

My lovely daughter-in-law just gave birth to my first grandchild. Her mother has taken over completely.

I don’t want to start a fight and disturb the children and the joy that all are feeling.

Any advice before I tell her off?

A: First, congratulations on controlling yourself and being aware how your reactions  might affect the happy children.

Try this first:

Take the other Grandmother out to lunch for  a Grandmother-to-Grandmother conference

to discuss your feelings and work out a solution or, at least, visitation plan when you can be alone with the new young family..
